Natural Remedies for Psoriasis/Eczema

Psoriasis can be treated medically . However you can effectively treat it with natural remedies. With eczema it is important to address the underlying cause by changing your diet and trying gelatin rich foods like bone-broth from grass-fed beef and/or eliminating dairy and inflammatory foods  from your diet. Natural Remedies for Psoriasis

  1. Aloe Vera: Apply aloe vera gel to the affected area three times per day. You can also use creams that contain 5% aloe vera gel.
  2. Apple Cider Vinegar: Dilute raw organic apple cider vinegar with purified water and apply to the affected area once a day. The problem should clear within a few weeks. Make sure that your skin is not broken otherwise vinegar will burn and make the situation worse.
  3. Oats: Applying an oat paste or taking a bath in oats relieves itchy skin and reduces redness.
  4. Turmeric has been found to minimize psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis flares. You can take turmeric concentrated in pill or supplement form or add it liberally to your food.
  5. Dietary supplements like fish oil, vitamin D, milk thistle, aloe vera, Oregon grape, and evening primrose oil have been reported to help ease mild symptoms of psoriasis, according to the National Psoriasis Foundation. Check with your doctor to make sure they don’t interfere with your medicines.

Natural Remedies for Eczema

  1. Coconut oil: A thin layer of coconut oil cools eczema itching and pain. Do a skin test to make sure you are not sensitive to coconut oil.
  2. Sea Salt Spray: Make homemade spray by adding 1 tablespoon of Himalayan salt or sea salt and a pinch of Epsom salt/magnesium to 1 cup of distilled or boiled water and stir until salt is completely dissolved. Put into a spray bottle and spray on the affected area daily.
  3. Probiotics: Take good quality probiotic supplements and fermented food and drinks such as kombucha soda, water kefir, sauerkraut and any lacto-fermented vegetables.
  4. Jojoba oil: If you are sensitive to coconut oil use jojoba oil instead.
  5. Oats: Applying an oat paste or taking a bath in oats relieves itchy skin and reduces redness.
